  • 20-30 mmHG of graduated compression
  • Increased Bloodflow
  • Low cut elastic waistband

SLS3 Compression - How much?

Compression is measured in mmHg. This stands for millimeters (mm) of mercury (Hg) and is the average measurement of compression firmness. There are different levels of compression possible:

8-15mmHg offers a very, very mild compression. It's preventative and helps with minor fatigue and cramps.

15-20mmHg offers firmer compression. It helps with mild foot and leg swelling, tired and achy legs, and prevents several mild varicose problems.

20-30mmHg is where SLS3 comes in. SLS3 Compression average around 24-26mmHg.  This is considered firm compression that helps with severe swelling, reversible  lymphoedema,  moderate to severe fatigue and cramps, and severe vein insufficiency.

Above this there is yet more compression to be had BUT it is for medical indication such as irreversible lymphoedema and elephantiasis.

Sizing:

Size Height Weight
2 152-168cms (5'0"-5'6") 50-64kgs (110-140lbs)
3 157-172cms (5'2-5'8)  59-73kgs (130-160 lbs)
4 168-183 (5'6-6'0) 66-80kgs (145-175 lbs)
5 173-188 (5'8-6'2) 75-89kgs (165-195 lbs)
6 183-198cms (6'0-6'6") 84-98kgs (185-215lbs)

Tights fit best if both measurements are in the middle of the respective size ratio. If you have both measurements on the upper end of a size, you need to size up. If you have both measurements on the lower end of a size, you need to size down. If you are short but heavy within a size - that is your size. If you are tall but skinny within a size - that is your size.

  1. Great alternative to medical beige

Posted by Jen on 3rd Jul 2011

As someone with long-standing chronic veinous insufficiency, I have had to endure the fashion horrors of beige as the only option for 20-30mmHg medical grade compression. These are a great alternative, and after a few months use, seem to be pretty robust and hard-wearing. I do agree that it helps to be tall and skinny: I'm under the bottom of the weight range for size 3, and they fit me well.

  2. Tight but great for recovery

Posted by Andrew on 11th Apr 2011

I started wearing these after long runs and rides and now they are an essential part of my recovery. I feel the benefit after a few hours and more importantly, no stiffness in the legs the next morning.

My only problem is that these are tight ! Harder to put on but worth the benefit. Probably the best compression tight I've seen and used.

  3. not designed for curvy women

Posted by Hourglass on 4th Jan 2011

This garment has excellent compression and is well-made, but does not suit a woman with a bubble butt and a belly. It's designed for the tall and skinny.
