Product Description

Indoor Cycling Training like you have never seen it before - enjoy the beauty of France while getting your ride indoors.

Warm up to a video montage of the architecture, canals, and little shops of Venice. After you find your legs on a gradual climb, you’ll get your speed fix by riding along a quiet highway overlooking the Ligurian coast near Bracco. These two sections lead to a brisk riverside run in Valstagna along the River Brenta. The fast pace of these flat to rolling sections will be the perfect setup for the killer climb that awaits you below the mountain village of Rocco. Finally, cool down to a photo montage of the behind the scenes activities of the film and riding crew, and the places where they stayed.
Section 1: Blasting Through Bracco
Mild grades, flat sections, and ridge line views of the Ligurian Coast help complete the warm-up started in Venice. At around the 10 minute mark you can begin to feel the speed and intent for the day. This is going to be fast ride today.
Section 2: River Running
Through the magic of video, we are transported some 400 km away to Valstagna, in the Bassano del Grappa region, where we pick up a couple more riders, one by design, and one who just decided to join in on the fun. We continue the speed theme through all the little sleepy towns situated on the banks of the River Brenta. Flat to slight rolling terrain may be well suited to a nice recovery ride, but the pace set at the front will make you think twice about taking it easy.
Section 3: Rockin to Rocca
Consider the first 45 minutes one long warm-up to this final challenge. No matter how hard you’ve been working, this section will require just a bit more grit and determination. As we approach a popular climbing route for both local mountain bikers and roadies alike, we are presented with a couple of human “carrots” already on the climb. Our objective now is to catch them, and put the hammer down so we maintain our lead to the top of the climb. Words to the final song say “Now I am unbreakable, it’s unmistakable, no one can touch me, no one can stop me!”… providing just the motivation to push us to a strong finish.
This DVD also features a 30-minute bonus Pilates for cyclists section. When you own both "Oceanside Ride" and "Speed & Power in Italy" you will have a full hour of Pilates for Cyclists workouts.

Ideally suited for all-round cycling work, this DVD has a great combination of flats and mild climbs. Warmup with a mild initial climb to help everyone “find their legs” followed by some beautiful flat paceline work. You’ll then encounter the tough climb of the day that lures out the two hammer heads of the group, who ultimately spend the rest of the ride trying to establish who keeps the lead.

Every Global Ride virtual cycling DVD contains a live track in addition to the three coaching tracks.

Section 1: Prelude to a Climb

The terrain flattens out a bit as we traverse a nice flat section through the trees from Cluses to Tangines. While the last climb was not very steep, it did provide an early challenge and knowing what lies ahead the group just enjoys the scenery before the serious work begins.

Section 2: Proper Introductions

Triathlon Europe holds a club ride to remind everyone about the team tryouts happening over the next 2 days. This segment is perfectly suited to ride at almost any level due to its very slight but continuous grade. Consequently, it is perfect for warming up without putting too many demands on the rider, yet challenging to set the tone for the day.

Section 3: Who Wants to Play

We head out of the valley, up towards the Col de Ramez and on to Ligey. While this was supposed to be just a friendly club ride in advance of the team tri-outs, this section drew out the first hammer-head of the group, determined to make his mark. Little did he know that this effort was not going to be a simple show of force, as he is quickly chased by a rider determined to bridge the gap.

Section 4: Still Friends

While no one likes to get caught in a break-away, it’s at least a consolation when the one who catches you is one of your training buddies. The next seven minutes allow for a bit of recovery while still maintaining a strong cadence and significant speed through a simple 4% graded section of this climb.

Section 5: Catch Me If You Can

After the last friendly seven minutes, the ride must have been getting just a bit too polite, as the chaser becomes the punisher. Finding a section that resembles the nice flat to mild grades of a typical time trial, our two lead riders go at it again, providing an outstanding finish to a most beautiful ride.

Bonus Pilates for TriAthletes

Cyclists know how important a strong core is for both comfort and performance on the bike. The key to eliminating back, shoulder and neck pain is to develop a strong core. As a bonus, an extra 30-minute pilates section follows the cycling in "Club Ride in France."

Coaching Tracks

Since the first DVD made in Hawaii, Global Ride has been providing coaches from all over the world to help you get the most out of these virtual rides. Each coach having their own style and objectives. With the France series you can ride to the DVD's Featured Coach, Fiona Ford, a British Triathlon coach, National Championship and International Gold medallist for World & European Triathlon, Aquathlon & Duathlons.

This DVD also explores a bit of role-playing to help transport the rider into the scene both mentally and visually. For a different coaching track, Gene Nacey & Tom Scotto play two coaches out for a ride with their students, each vying for open spots with Triathlon Europe.
